Here is the The Optimist Creed which anyone who joins Optimist International tries to live up to each and every day. It’s an outstanding way to live so I had to post it!

    Promise Yourself
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

  • Bill the Cow says:

Bill the cow never found a smile
    Difficult to make
    Even when times were tough
    And everyone hard to take

    no acts of kindness
    Could make him fit in
It did not matter to most
    How nice he had been

    Because he was different
    they refused to be kind
    And to his good nature
    They remained blind

    Bill always understood
    Why they carried this thought
It was not hatred for him
but the way they were taught

    after a long time
    and a long debate
    Bill the Cow was ready
    to change his fate

    the world was wrong
    and it was no wonder
    he could not stand by
    and watch this blunder

    bill never gave up
    never did he complain
    through his determination
    equality he would gain

    through his work
    they began to change
    and all their thoughts
    began to feel strange

    why would someone
    have reason to create
    based on difference
    a reason to hate

    a stand he would make
    even if it alone
    courage of one
    as history has shown

    plant the seed
    and watch it grow
    people will change

    Bills campaign worked
    It changed their mind
    And every thought now
    Is how to be kind

Cows aren’t good poets but they are kind. Feel free to fix it and share it…Bill is about change…not charge!

    Bill the Cow,

what an awesome poem. How true & profound are these words that apply to everyone, especially chrildren who can be clicky and cruel to others that they don’t like because they are different. We should celebrate our differences not dispise them!
